Harper Guitar Works FAQ
-
Do I need an appointment?
Yes. Harper Guitar Works operates by appointment only. Appointments allow me to give each instrument the time and attention it deserves while keeping your wait to a minimum.
-
What happens during my appointment?
We'll discuss any concerns you have, evaluate your instrument, and recommend any necessary setup or repairs. You'll receive an estimate before any work begins.
-
Why is there a $25 booking fee?
The $25 booking fee reserves dedicated time for your appointment and allows Harper Guitar Works to provide each customer with an unrushed, one-on-one evaluation. The fee is credited toward any setup, repair, or modificationperformed.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, your booking fee is fully refundable when you provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice and no-show appointments are not eligible for a refund.
-
How long will my repair take?
Turnaround time depends on the type of work and current shop workload. You'll receive an estimated completion time after your instrument has been evaluated.
-
What instruments do you work on?
Electric and acoustic guitars, basses, mandolins, ukuleles, banjos, and fiddles.
-
Do you work on vintage or valuable instruments?
Yes. Every instrument is handled with care, whether it's a first guitar, a family heirloom, or a professional performance instrument.
-
Do I need new strings for a setup?
A setup is best performed with the string gauge you intend to use. If new strings are needed, they can be installed during your appointment.
-
Can you tell me exactly what my repair will cost before I bring it in?
Some repairs can be estimated from photos, but many require an in-person evaluation. Every instrument is different, and an accurate estimate begins with a careful inspection.
-
Do you offer discounts?
Yes. Harper Guitar Works proudly offers a 10% discount to military personnel, veterans, and working musicians.
-
Do you sell guitars or accessories?
No. Harper Guitar Works specializes in professional setup, repair, and maintenance of stringed instruments.
-
Do I really need a professional setup?
Most modern guitars are built with excellent structural accuracy, but they're often shipped with a "one-size-fits-most" setup. A professional setup tailors the instrument to your playing style, improves comfort, and helps it play in tune across the fretboard.
